Have You Had Your Epiphany?

  1. Good news! Officially, Christmas isn't over. So don't take your Tree down just yet. 😉 January 6 is a commemoration of the coming of the 3 Wise Men as the first earthly manifestation of Christ to the World. 
    Here's how the dictionary defines Epiphany:

  2. 2:  an appearance or manifestation especially of a divine being

  3. 3a (1)  :  a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something  (2):  an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking  (3)  :  an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosureb  :  a revealing scene or moment
    I'm liking this word!  
    As we begin to grasp the significant reality of Jesus Christ being made manifest to us as a simple baby in a humble stable, we see the baby born to bring us home. He came as God's rescue-mission for the world. The very name Jesus means 'God to the rescue'!

A Very "MERRY" Christmas!

As the holiday season comes upon us, there is much exuberance in our household of 5 kids. I'd like to harness that energy somehow and share it, maybe hook them up to a generator and ... a treadmill to power the house? I'm not too far from actually considering it - they'd love it probably. With the push and pull of holiday bustle, I may not have a solution to all your energy needs, but I feel that there is a power to heartfelt laughter, not just bc. my kids bound around howling happily, but bc. I feel it in my own rather burdened life ... being able to laugh in the midst of it is somehow freeing. The taught ropes of tension seem to drop away, or at least slacken for a breather. A Blue Christmas?

"As soon as I saw it I knew I had to write this." My wife and I used to perform this song for Christmas parties, me doing my worst Elvis impersonation and Joy doing her doo-wops. In retrospect, I don’t know if I could sing that song at this stage of my life with the same hilarity. Some times in life are very blue. I for one don’t believe in flukey coincidence; too often in my life things co-incide (Latin: ‘fall in together’) with a real connection I only sometimes later see -- like dominos triggering a series or pattern.  I was given my favorite coffee-caramel candy at a Christmas party and today I went to stash some of it inside my leather motorbike jacket which was hung away until the riding season.
