Growing Strong

Image
Some people are like rocks : They want to be solid; immovable. But they end up being embrittled and crumble as a result.  I want to be flexible like the tree: A growing force that finds a way through the hard ground, flexing with the storms and staying strong through all the seasons of life.

The Peace Project

Introduction: "I love working with words - trying to find just the right ones to convey meaning. They are really symbols for us to share ideas and feelings as humans," says Ken Kutney. Imagine our world without them. And then they say a picture is worth a 1000 words... so this brief 3-part Peace Project is an attempt to put both words and pictures together, since they both share the common goal of interchange. First, a bit of an overview of what Peace is all about in an age that seems to need it more every day. This is followed by a couple of short video clips. Art Therapy - My Journey Through Cancer

Image
Have a look at my growing collection of art projects on my new FB page with the above title. Something I stumbled onto called Art Therapy seemed to catch my eye in winter. It is a kind of counseling, especially for working through trauma like cancer or PTSD and dealing with negative emotions. I found a professional counselor who'd actually come to my house monthly, so I thought I'd try it out and converted my little office space into an art corner. I've found it quite helpful in the past several months - it has sparked my creative energy again. I was hoping it might lead to more writing, but so far I'm loving the creative art process and am sticking with it. I work at it in little spurts as I'm able, sketching ideas, exploring the wide world of art, and working on assigned projects. Keeps me accountable. Art is forefront in my mind and almost a daily effort. I guess that's where most of my idle time goes, whereas it might have been on FB, etc. It is both

Have You Had Your Epiphany?

Good news! Officially, Christmas isn't over. So don't take your Tree down just yet. 😉 January 6 is a commemoration of the coming of the 3 Wise Men as the first earthly manifestation of Christ to the World.  Here's how the dictionary defines Epiphany : 2 :   an appearance or manifestation especially of a divine being 3 a   (1)   :   a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something   (2) :   an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking   (3)   :   an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure b   :   a revealing scene or moment I'm liking this word!   As we begin to grasp the significant reality of Jesus Christ being made manifest to us as a simple baby in a humble stable, we see the baby born to bring us home. He came as God's rescue-mission for the world. The very name Jesus means 'God to the rescue'! 1Timothy 3:16, 6:16  "This Christian life is a great mys

Auld Lang Syne - Fresh Lyrics

My wife and her siblings put their heads together and whimsically came up with some fresh ideas to make your basic drinking song a bit more profound.  Should old acquaintance be forgot  And never brought to mind? Let's keep our friendships old and new  For auld lang syne  For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne, Don't know the meaning of the words of 'auld lang syne'! May all the joys of former days be treasured in our hearts And all the friends we've grown to love not ever grow apart For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne, Let's all pretend to understand it auld lang syne  We'll raise a glass to mercy, and we'll raise a glass to peace Let's choose the path of kindness and our grievences release For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne we long for meaning in the phrase for auld lang syne May all our sorrows be forgotten with the setting sun And rays of hope come with the dawn of a New Year just begun For auld lang syne, my dea
