A Dominican Republic Education Project - Opening Doors For Children Of All Abilities
Currently, children who struggle with dyslexia, autism, or other special needs are excluded from the predominantly private school system. Medical diagnosis is unavailable and parents lack the instruction and support necessary to lead healthy families. Hand-in-Hand is a unique, inclusive educational project in the Dominican Republic. We aim to provide the following:
Appropriate education to children of all learning abilities, as well as to those whose families live in poverty
Medical diagnosis of learning challenges
Counselling for families to help cope with the unique challenges of raising special needs children.
Doctors, teachers and qualified counsellors are in place and ready to begin!

As the holiday season comes upon us, there is much exuberance in our household of 5 kids. I'd like to harness that energy somehow and share it, maybe hook them up to a generator and ... a treadmill to power the house? I'm not too far from actually considering it - they'd love it probably. With the push and pull of holiday bustle, I may not have a solution to all your energy needs, but I feel that there is a power to heartfelt laughter, not just bc. my kids bound around howling happily, but bc. A Blue Christmas?

"As soon as I saw it I knew I had to write this." My wife and I used to perform this song for Christmas parties, me doing my worst Elvis impersonation and Joy doing her doo-wops. In retrospect, I don’t know if I could sing that song at this stage of my life with the same hilarity. Some times in life are very blue. I for one don’t believe in flukey coincidence; too often in my life things co-incide (Latin: ‘fall in together’) with a real connection I only sometimes later see -- like dominos triggering a series or pattern.  I was given my favorite coffee-caramel candy at a Christmas party and today I went to stash some of it inside my leather motorbike jacket which was hung away until the riding season.
